Hyrum Fisher Smith was born 10 January 1856. He was the second child of eight in the family of John Smith and Hellen Maria Fisher. John Smith was serving as the Presiding Patriarch of the Church at the time that Hyrum was born. Hyrum married Hannah (Annie) Marie Gibbs 12 December 1878 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
